In August 2018, Supporters Direct welcomed the newly registered London Broncos Supporters Society Limited to the supporters trust movement.
Registered as a Community Benefit Society last month, London Broncos Supporters decided to make the move to become a supporter’s trust to further their reach and develop stronger ties and influence with their club.
Steve Newcombe from the London Broncos Association said;
“We discussed forming a Trust in the dark days of 2014 when no-one really knew whether the Broncos would continue or not. Thankfully they did and Supporters Direct recommended at the time that we should form an Association in the first instance and see how that developed over time.
Since then we have made a real difference in honouring our past players by instigating a Hall of Fame and organising annual Heritage Day events, supporting young men’s mental health charities through our joint commitment with the Club to the annual John Sullivan Trophy, and our fund-raising; including on match day in partnership with the Broncos, has allowed the Association to sponsor the Broncos Academy since 2016.
Members now feel the time is right for us to become a more formal entity, and so with the help of Supporters Direct we have now done this. Being a Trust should allow us to do some many other things in support of the Broncos and the game of Rugby League in London and sends out a message that we are committed and proud Broncos!”
